Strip LengthLedge Protection
Defender® 4 Narrow Plastic Bird and Pigeon Spikes will protect a depth of ledge up to 7.5 cm (3 inches). If the ledge width is 10 cm or more, simply attach a second row of spikes leaving a small a gap as possible between the tops of the pins.
Alternatively, you may prefer to use one row of our Wide Pigeon Prevention Spike that will protect ledges up to 15 cm (6 inches) Defender® 8 Plastic Bird and Pigeon Spikes.
Strip Length
The Defender® 4 Pigeon Prevention Spike is 33.4 cm (13 inches) in length. To cover a 1 metre long ledge or sill, 3 strips of Plastic Pigeon Spikes are needed. However the plastic spike bases can be snapped to shorter lengths from just 3 cm (1 inch) long.
Humane Pigeon Plastic Spikes
All the Defender® Bird and Pigeon Spikes are humane. The pins that protrude at angles from the base simply act as a barrier to the pigeon, making it difficult for birds or pigeons to approach the ledge they previously used to perch on. The plastic pigeon spike pins do not injure the birds as they do not come into contact with them. They just move on to other more accessible roosting or nesting sites.

- These spikes are for protection against pigeons and similar size birds.
- DO NOT use these if you have problems with smaller birds such as sparrows, starlings etc. Use our Defender Thistle or similar product.
